Workshops
The SOA Symposium is pleased to offer on-site SOA Certification Workshops during the five business days (Oct. 9-15, 2008) immediately following the main conference. These bootcamp-style training session provide you with the opportunity to attain any one of the following recognized industry certifications as part of the SOA Certified Professional program by SOASchool.com:

Participants can register individually for one or more course days and one or more exams. Testing
and certification are therefore optional.
Please note that seating is limited in each workshop, so be sure to reserve your spot well in advance. If you have any problems registering via this Website or if you have any questions, feel free to contact SOA Systems directly at: info@soasystems.com (also, be sure to use this e-mail address if you are interested in group registrations).
Note that when registering for both the conference and any one of the
certification workshops, you are entitled to receive a 10% discount off both the conference and workshop registration fees. Also, all attendees that register for a full five-day workshop will receive a free 48 hour I-Amsterdam Card, as explained on the Visiting Amsterdam page.
The 'Top Gun' Contest
The registrant receiving the top score of all the workshops will receive a special 'Top Gun' designation and will further win the following prizes:
- The registrant's name and company name will be broadcast to all conference attendees and over 10,000 SOA professionals and organizations world-wide as part of a special international announcement.
- The registrant and company name will be published on the SOAMag.com homepage for one month.
- The winning registrant will receive a €1,000.- gift certificate for additional SOA Certification Courses.

More information regarding the certifications and courses can be found at www.soaschool.com.
Each course will be held from 9:00 - 16:30 every day, and the instructor will stay late to answer
questions and help students with exam preparation. The exam for each course is held at the morning
of the day following the course prior to the start of the next course.
For example, the exam for Module 1 will be held on the morning of Oct. 10th from 8:00-9:00 prior
to the start of the next course module. The final exam can be taken on the morning of Oct. 16th
or on the evening of Oct. 15th. Note that all exams are one-hour long, except for the exams for
Modules 7 and 9, which are two-hours in length.

Module 1
Fundamental SOA & Service-Oriented Computing
An overview of key concepts and terminology associated with SOA, service-oriented computing and service-orientation, including a study of strategic benefits and impacts.

SOA Technology Concepts
A study of the primary technologies used to build service-oriented solutions, with an emphasis on XML and Web services-based technologies, including numerous WS-* standards.

SOA Design & Architecture
An exploration of the service-oriented architectural model and the service-orientation design paradigm, including in-depth coverage of service compositions and related roles.

Module 4
SOA Project Delivery & Methodology
An overview of the SOA project delivery lifecycle and related project delivery strategies, with an emphasis on service-oriented analysis and service modeling.

SOA Technology Languages
A hands-on session requiring students to learn and work with XML, XML Schema, and WS-BPEL languages through a series of tutorials and exercises.

Advanced SOA Analysis & Modeling
A session dedicated to advanced inventory blueprint and service analysis issues, including various modeling considerations with an emphasis on granularity and business logic encapsulation.

SOA Analysis & Modeling Lab
A hands-on workshop allowing students to apply the concepts, processes, techniques, and principles previously covered to a set of large-scale analysis and modeling exercises.

A comprehensive study of different types of service-oriented architectures and advanced topics associated with the application of service-orientation design principles.
